• 11 Jan 2005, 20:47 Speedup: Fixed a serious bug in MediaWiki which caused browsers to wastefully reload css files on each page view. The effect was to load four files instead of one, and nothing would show up until all css was re-downloaded..

• 4 Jan 2005, 20:10 Custom navigation code: Added a capability to customize the navigation box through the wiki- a global config option $wgAllowUserNavi needs to be set and [[MediaWiki:Navihtml]] needs to be non-empty to enable this.

• 4 Jan 2005, 17:07 1.4 testing: Running 1.4 beta at http://test.wikidev.net. Caught a few problems during upgrade that broke the clean toplevel urls we use. Will start to move the first production wikis to 1.4 tonight.
• 27 Dec 2004, 01:03 Setup fee: No setup fee anymore for annual payment, 39€ for semi-annual and 49€ for quarterly payment.
• 24 Dec 2004, 14:43 MediaWiki 1.3.9: updated the shared codebase to MediaWiki 1.3.9 after fixing a few url-related bugs. 1.4 beta might follow in the next days.
• 19 Dec 2004, 13:53 Phone: I recently got a VoIp phone box and registered an Account at sipgate.de- but still have to get my trusty wireless handset from home. Will be on holiday in Spain between christmas and Jan 3, the number will be +49-(0)1801 7775555258 +49-(0)431-2095311 when i'm back. Free calls for VoIp users then and local calls from Germany.
• 15 Dec 2004, 01:10 Software updates: Latest Apache, PHP4, ssh, Cyrus imap, IMP webmail and PHPMyadmin. Mainly security fixes. Installed Turck MMcache as well which speeds up php code.
• 21:12, 6 Dec 2004 (CET) Skins: There has been a bit of interest in alternative Skins such as my DaVinci skin prototype. Might make one for this site as it's my personal favourite anyway. Chose the grey in Monobook mainly because many people objected against wikipedia as a reference becoming too colourful. Plan to write some more documentation on standard customizations (apart from meta:User styles which is already a good starting point for css tweaks).
• 13:43, 28 Nov 2004 (CET) New Kernels: Updated both wikidev servers to the latest 2.6.9 Kernel.
• Moved- i'm now living in the beautiful town of Kiel (well, the town is not that pretty, but it's at the Baltic Sea ;-) Started Computer Science at CAU (http://www.uni-kiel.de)- lots of math currently. The secondary subject ist quite important here, i'll do Psychology. Will be 1/4 of the time from 4th semester on.
• Project to develop a CD version of the German wikipedia, i'm contracted to do technical work on this and administer/provide the server for the final review process that's currently running Update: CD is out now, you can download it (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia-CD/Download) for free.
